Ripping is the term we will use for the process of transferring your CD audio tracks to a digital form.
Why the hassle?
Problem sparks from the fact that raw CD audio(CDDA) is not played back as a reliable lossless format, in fact it is designed that way so it can compensate for small scratches, dirt, gaps, multitude of drive types and unreliable media. To be sure you got perfect copy from your original CD, you'll have to do some serious work.
